Yomut Turkmen “Torba” (small bag/trapping), Central Asia, late 19th Century, 1’3” x 3’3”

A nine ‘gol’ (medallion) torba attributable to the Yomut of Central Asia.  Possibly made for dowry, the condition is rather good, though the surface is a bit ‘uneven’ though not with wear, but rather the absence of wear.  The compartmented border, the colors used (all derived from natural dyes) and the weave suggest an older rather than younger piece, it probably dates to circa 1880-1900.

The condition is good, with no holes or repairs.

Price - $485 including shipping (domestic USA only)
