Ersari Embroidered Cuff, N. Afghanistan, circa 1900, 10" x 8"

While Turkmen embroidery is hardly on the radar screen of collectors of Turkmen rugs and bags, the designs seen on these purely domestic textiles NOT made for local or foreign marketplaces are often reminsicent of a long lost era.

The primary horizontal band of design is, for want of a better word, "archaic", seemingly repesenting something the distant past with the actual meaning of that element remaining a bit of a mystery to both us and the woman who made it.

The condition is good, with no holes or damage, and the colors appear to be derived from all natural dyes, though not representing an earlier aesthetic.

Price - $450 including domestic USA shipping
