Uzbek Embroidered Band, Central Asia, 19th C., 4" x 3'2"

A complete and extremely colorful embroidered band from Central Asia.  A sparsely patterned and quite attractive example, in good condition (no wear at all) with all the colors derived from natural dyes.

Even the purple/aubergine hue is a natural dye, an extremely saturated example of a beautiful shade that when placed adjacent to an example with a ‘bad’ or synthetic purple, the difference between the two is immediately evident.

Few have appeared over the years with this quality of color coupled with a truly Central Asian type of design.  More often we see examples with a complex Persian-ate type of patterning.
