Baluch “Pushti” (Bag Face), W. Afghanistan, late 19th Century, 1’ 11” x 3’ 8”
intended for use as a storage bag of which this is only the face of that bag, no flatwoven back is extant. The interlocking, reciprocal ‘rams horn’ devices are a theme that occur in other weaving cultures throughout Central Asia as well as Anatolia. The condition is good, with no holes or repair, and the colors are all derived from natural dyes.
