Auspicious Potpourrie

Altars may take many forms with great latitude given to sites that spontaneously appear in auspicious locations.  At the base of the holy
banyan tree, lies this amalgamation of objects to which ‘puja’ is offered.

It consists of discarded pieces of damaged stone sculpture, a man-made anthropomorphic trident figure along with a colored coconut husk and a picture of Jagganath (an incarnation of Krishna) to whom the residents of Puri are devoted.

The banyan tree provides the perfect backdrop, as it, too, is regarded as auspicious.
