Catch It When You Can Taken in the train station in Hassan, Karnataka (approx 2 hours north of Mysore by train). Upon hearing the announcement over the intercom system that the train we were all waiting for would be late by 45 minutes, this fellow hopped off the platform, crossed two sets of tracks and sprang up onto the opposite platform and immediately proceeded to lie down and take a nap. The absence of self consciousness that one encounters our own sense of self that many people feel in the West. The freedom afforded to those without a hint of self consciousness accounts for what the average traveler will find to be an utterly compelling source of attraction to the Subcontinent and its people. 13" x 18" (on blackgatorboard w/mount for hanging)- |
