Morning Puja

Taken at one of the major bathing pools in Puri (Orissa), this woman went through an extended
ritual of bathing and purification, culminating in his final act of devotion or ‘puja’, bowing in prayer to a sacred lotus flower.

Friends still residing in Asia who’ve seen this photo, all remark upon the abstract quality of this very familiar act of offering ‘puja’.  I could not resist the opportunity as I saw it unfolding before my eyes.
