Adrup Gompo - Khampa Leader, 1909

Clearly a man of means, this man hails from Kham in eastern Tibet. Probably a tribal leader, he is seen here posing for the photographer, Jacques Bacot, while enroute to Paris, circa 1909. He displays his regal bearing in more than stature and presence; he has chosen the skin of the snow leopard as the lining for his chuba (coat).
