Uzbek Ikat Coat, Central Asia, 19th century

A graphic example of textile art from Central Asia, verging on the modern art aesthetic. The colors are brilliantly applied to the silk threads prior to weaving, including a clear madder red, and iridescent blue and brilliant yellow. The coat is in good condition, with no holes or rips.
