Ersari Chuval, Central Asia, 19th c., 4' 8" x 3' 6"

An extremely colorful weaving with very lustrous pile (note the glare off the surface of the piece results in lighter looking areas which are not apparent in person). The saturated palette is extraordinary, as is the drawing in the border (both primary and secondary borders) and the incredibly beautiful elem with the classic flowers and 'tamghans' or tribal emblems scattered (see detail photos). The condition is good, no holes or repair, some slight wear in the elem. All the colors are derived from natural dyes, including a clear yellow, green, orange/red, red and blue.
