Baluch Bag Face, W. Afghanistan, 19th century, 1' 9" x 1' 11"

A colorful and quite old example of Baluch weaving from west Afghanistan. The design is uncommon, executed in a very fluid manner with no hint of the stiffness that such a lattice design as this is prone to be. The colors are lovely, with exceptional saturation and diversity of the hues in the blues and blue/green. Seldom are Baluch weavings from Afghanistan so colorful, suggestive of greater age than what we normally see from this region.

The condition is evident in the photos, some wear but NO repairs.
