Afshar Rug, S. Persia, crica 1865, 4' 3" x 6' 4"

A very fine weaving, with a handle like a piece of cloth.  Seldom do these weavings from the Afshar achieve such a handle, but when they do, the results are extraordinary.  The wool is velvet like, the colors extraordinary with a clear yellow, green and a beautiful red, all characteristics of the finest Afshar weavings extant.

The condition is very good, with virtually full pile and no repairs, no stains or repairs, original selvedges intact as well as finely woven kilim ends.
