Chodor Main Carpet Fragment, Central Asia, circa 1875, 2' 2" x 2' 3"

A lovely example of classical Turkmen weaving, a small fragment of a Chodor main carpet, possibly dating to the 18th century but one that may be safely dated to circa 1800.  The handle is truly wonderful, very supple like a piece of cloth.  The design is again one of the classic Turkmen patterns, a tauk nauska gol with two animals in each of the quadrants of the gol, and a beautifully drawn border with incredibly nice colors.
