Turkmen Embroidered Animal Trapping, Yomud, Central Asia, 19th century, 1' 1" x 2" 1" (incl. tassels)
|
A small embroidered trapping, possibly intended for decorating a camel during the wedding procession. The design is 'classic' depicting tree/rams horn motifs in multi-colored silk thread, embroidered onto a red trade cloth ground. The condition is very good, with no holes or any real damage. The colors are all derived from natural dyes. |
